It's finally over. Our annual club championship was successfully held on the 13th and 14th of February 2010. It also coincides with the February medal. I'm afraid I can only relate my own experience and therefore the excitement evolve around my super shot making and not the others.
First day - February Medal - 13.02.2010
As usual, the game is arranged in pairs with the lowest handicap starting from hole 1 and the next continues at hole 3, 5, 7 and so on. Having the second lowest handicap, I started from hole 1 with Frasier. The first 9 holes were not bad, both of us scored less than 5 over par .... I know, it's actually not good but it could've been worse.
The second 9 was more or less the same for me. Unfortunately Frasier's game collapsed after hole 12. I think it was the heat. Brian Buckle even gave up half way after suffering from severe headache. Anyway, after the day was over I scored 6 over par. The winner for February medal and leader of the championship was Charlie Brown and his score was 5 over par. Only 1 shot better than me !!! Tough luck but I still have a chance to catch up on the second day tomorrow.
Second day - 14.02.2010
We came back the next day ready to continue the battle. Again I started from hole 1, this time with Charlie as the pair with the best 1st day score. My game plan was simple. Beat Charlie and you'll win the championship. It was easy, by end of the first hole I overtook him by 5 shots. After the 1st nine I was even par and Charlie was ready to go home.
The second nine was not so good for me. I scored 3 over par. Charlie somehow improved his game and managed to get some good score here and there. The whole day was great. We were relating our game with Zohan .... the great spy from a movie character played by Adam Sandler. I think that's what made Charlie's game improved.
Anyway by end of the day I scored a 74. My total 2 day score was 151 and I was a club house leader for most of the day until ...... Vincent completed his round. I lost the net score to him by .... 1 shot !!! Then there was the total gross and again I lost. This time to Frasier and again by 1 shot !!! Unbelievable.
The final result is as follows:
Winner February Medal - Charlie (lost to him by 1 shot)
Note: Charlie also won the Longest Drive and Nearest to Pin for second day.
Winner Club Championship Net - Vincent (lost to him by 1 shot)
Winner Club Championship Gross - Frasier (lost to him by 1 shot)
Winner Nearest to Pin 1st day - Azam
Winner Longest Drive 1st day - Jaycie
